Movie Reveiew: Red Dawn (2012)

When facing outnumbering odds, do you fight or give up? In November
2012, a group of kids decided to fight.

Directing this 93 minute action is Dan Bradley.

Making up this remake cast is: Chris Hemsworth as Jed Eckert, Josh Peck as Matt Eckert, Josh Hutcherson as Robert Kitner, Adrianne Palicki as Toni Walsh, Isabel Lucas as Erica Martin, Conner Cruise as Daryl Jenkins, Brett Cullen as Tom Eckert, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Tanner and Will Yun Lee as Captain Cho.

Spokane Washington was a typical American town. An every day life filled with football games and kids hanging out. Then something happened that we never thought possible… we were invaded. Not knowing if the whole United States fell or just their town, a band of kids decide it’s time to fight and take back their
homes. Donning the name Wolverines, after their school mascot, they do everything they can to win back their freedom.
I can’t really say a lot changed from the 1984 original film. (one big noticeable change would be Chris Hemsworth replacing Patrick Swayze, and then of course, all the other people that replaced those other people in the movie that weren’t as cool as Swayze). Things like updating the film did affect the story a bit but over all it was still a good (still not the same without Swayze) movie. Plenty of action and good special effects kept me entertained during the flick. It did the action genre proud. Yet another remake that kept the heart of the story,  and still stands tall on it’s own. The cast wasn’t filled with (how to put this) a bunch of great actors (Hemsworth no stress, you’re good) but they’re still young so here’s to hoping they start sharpening some skills.

It’s rated PG 13 for violence and language.

Star value.. 3. Would have been 5 had Hemsworth pulled some Thor justice out on the bad guys, dropping a lighting bolt maybe, just saying. Guess I’ll have to wait for Thor 2…
