After being sent from a dying planet, a baby is found here on Earth by a loving couple and raised as their own. The older he gets, the more he realizes how different he is from everyone else. A boy, now a man must
decide his fate, and possibly be a new hope to a world he calls home. Knowing people will fear what they don’t understand, will he choose to become the man the world needs in it’s time of crisis?
Reboots seem to be the wave of the future, and with that, let’s cover the Superman reboot: Man of Steel. This one went a little darker than some of the past Superman titles. Covering a bit more of his history and the personal dilemmas he had growing up, which was a good change from the norm. It’s hard to make something “good” with such history/expectations, like Superman. Some titles have had a great cast and bad playthrough (Superman Returns), unlike this one which it had a great cast and playthrough. They did a great job of retelling a known tale with some killer special effects, specially during the fights scenes. Now, I know other voices have praised this flick extremely high, and yes, I thought it was good, but I wasn’t moved or changed in any way, shape or form. Maybe I should have worn my Superman shirt to set the mood… I don’t know.
It’s rated PG 13 for brief nudity and language.
4 stars for the Man of Steel stepping up and saving the world, again.
