Movie Review: Now You See Me

Have you ever seen the magic trick when someone pulls a rabbit out of a hat? In May 2013, there was no rabbit trick, but this movie was pure magic.

Directing this 115 minute crime/thriller is Louis Leterrier.

The magical cast is: Jesse Eisenberg as J. Daniel Atlas, Woody Harrelson as Merritt McKinney, Isla Fisher as Henley Reeves, Dave Franco as Jack Wilder, Mark Ruffalo as Dylan Rhodes, Melanie Laurent as Alma Day, Morgan Freeman as Thaddus Bradley, Michael Cain as Aruther Tressler, Michael Kelly as Agent Fuller and Common as Evans.

Four magicians answer a mysterious call to come together and combine their skills, making up the the group called the Four Horseman. One of their biggest tricks: To rob a bank in another country, which catches the
attention of FBI agent Dylan Rhodes, and he’s gonna need a trick or two to catch these escape artists. As we are reminded “The closer you look, the less you see”. So what or who are we not seeing? Who is the true illusionists here?

This was a great movie. The cast did an amazing job, and the visuals were very cool. Script and storyline where funny and entertaining. Also it was nice to see Eisenberg and Harrelson together again. This flick was filled with plenty of smoke and mirrors to keep you wondering, “How did they do that?” Plus it’s got Morgan Freeman… what else is there to say?

It’s rated PG 13 for violence and language.

I don’t know much about magic, but the closer I look at this one, I see 4 stars.
