Curse of Chucky (2013)

If you remember, back in 1988 we all learned a valuable lesson… a talking doll can be a creepy thing. In October 2013, we were reminded… yep still freaking creepy!

Directing this 97 minute horror/thriller is Don Mancini.

Some of the people trying to survive Chucky’s friendship is: Fiona Dourif as Nica, Danielle Bisutti as Barb, Brennan Elliott as Ian, Maitland McConnell as Jill, Summer H. Howell as Alice and Brad Dourif as Charles Lee Ray/the voice of Chucky. With an apperance by Jennifer Tilly.

A gift arriving at Nica’s home starts a spiral of events she would never see coming. After the passing of their mother, Barb wants to sell the house and have her sister Nica move into a assisted living. program. Nica feels like being in a wheelchair is no reason to move to assisted living. Remembering the gift, Nica gives it to her niece, Alice, who’s over joyed with her new Chucky doll. With all the family drama between the sisters, Chucky starts playing hide and seek with Alice to pass the time. Pretty soon, Chucky gets everybody in the house involved in his games, and he’s having a bloody good time with every one of them.

This was a great return for the Chucky title. It reminded me of when the franchise first started. Great horror with a touch of evil humor, not the more comedic writing that came later on. Here you get great special effects, a short but good story that falls right into place with the others. The visuals made an already creepy doll even creepier. The playthrough was awesome and it was only topped off with the return of Dourif as the voice of Chucky and a appearance by Jennifer Tilly.

Summary : Chucky fans will enjoy this one and it's good to see the franchise getting back on track.

It's rated R for violence, language and gore.
