I, Frankenstein (2014)

What would your life be like without a purpose? In January 2014, Adam wanted to know what his purpose was, then he found out, killing demons!

Directing this 92 minute action/fantasy/sci-fi is Stuart Beattie.

Some of the good vs evil cast is: Aaron Eckhart as Adam, Yvonne Strahovski as Terra, Miranda Otto as Leonore, Bill Nighy as Naberius, Jai Courtney as Gideon, Socratis Otto as Zuriel, Kevin Grevioux as Dekar, Bruce Spence as Molokai, Aden Young as Victor Frankenstein and Virginie Le Brun as Elizabeth Frankenstein.

Doctor’s can save a life, but can they give life to the dead? In 1795 Victor Frankenstein said yes, and proved it! Yet, what he gave life to wasn’t what he expected it to be. In the end Frankenstein created a monster. Rejecting the monster Victor created would start a feud that would end in Victor’s death, leaving the monster to wonder the land alone. Unfortunately, his solitude wouldn’t last long. After being attacked, he’s rescued by Ophir and Keziah who bring him back to their home to meet Leonore, the Gargoyle Queen. There, Leonore gives the monster the name Adam, and explains how the gargoyles came to be and that he was attacked by demons. Against Leonore’s advice, Adam returns to his solitude vowing, if attacked again he would handle it. Time passes, and the world around Adam has changed (modern times), but his fight still continues. Now, more then ever Naberius, the demon prince, wants Adam and the secrets he holds. With everything in place Naberius could change the tide in the war between the gargoyles and demons.

I was hoping for so much more when I saw the trailer. Unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed when it came time to watch the movie. While this is based off of a graphic novel and it’s another piece of work form Kevin Grevioux, who also wrote the screenplay, I feel this one should have stayed on paper.

Now visually, the film has some really cool looking special effects that give you plenty of shinies to look at during the movie. It’s just that some movies need more time when telling a story, and this was one of those films. It felt rushed, so I couldn’t get into any of the characters, leaving me watching a bunch of people doing cool looking things.

The storyline had imagination, but the playthrough wasn’t that good, again it was that rushed feeling. So in the end you get almost everything you need to know for the story, a bunch of fighting and then it’s over. Even though the Frankenstein character has been done a hundred times before by many different people. I will say Eckhart did bring a different version to add to the list and that was kinda cool. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad film, it’s just not a great film either. Once you’ve seen it you’re like, “Hmm, I just saw that…” and on life goes. You won’t really take an experience of love or hate it with you when it’s over.

Summary : This one falls into the wait till you don't have to spend money on it to watch category.

It's rated PG-13 for violence.
