The Legend of Hercules (2014)

Would you believe it if someone told you Zeus was your father? In January 2014, we watched as a man not only came to grips with that knowledge, but also the responsibility that came with it.

Directing this 99 minute action/adventure is Renny Harlin.

Some of the stars are: Kellan Lutz as Hercules, Gaia Weiss as Hebe, Scott Adkins as King Amphitryon, Liam Garrigan as Iphicles, Roxanne McKee as Queen Alcmene, Liam McIntyre as Sotiris, Rade Serbedzija as Chiron and Johnathon Schaech as Tarak.

Hercules, son of Zeus, was raised thinking his father was King Amphitryon, the heavy handed tyrannt. During an announcement by King Amphitryon, Hercules finds out that his brother Iphicles will be wed to Hebe. Unfortunately, Hebe only has eyes for Hercules, which causes a a rift in the family. So, King Amphitryon sends Hercules off to battle, hoping for his demise. Before Hercules leaves, he vows his return, not only to the side of Hebe but to return to see the King’s fall.

Visually, this was a cool film with some awesome special effects. If you’ve seen the movie 300 then you’re familiar with the slow-mo fight scenes, if you haven’t, they’re cool looking fight scenes.

As far as the storyline goes, it’s ok, but the playthrough left me bored and waiting for something cool to happen.

The cast just didn’t deliver any life or believability to their characters, and Lutz was just the hulking huge guy that got the title Hercules.

Sadly, every other department did great like scenery, special effects, costume and so on, but in the end it’s just a flashy film with little value.

Summary : This is a title I wouldn't waste money on in the theater, maybe wait for to hit Netflix... if you're a Hercules fan.

It's rated PG-13 for violence.
