Contracted (2013)

Have you ever had a moment that stayed with you the rest of your life? In November 2013, Samantha had a night that would stay with her, but the rest of her life was looking pretty short.

Directing this 78 minute drama/horror/thriller is Eric England.

The cast is: Najarra Townsend as Samantha, Alice Macdonald as Alice, Katie Stegeman as Nikki, Matt Mercer as Riley, Simon Barrett as BJ and Caroline Williams as Sam’s mom.

While at a party Samantha was slipped something and raped. After that night, everything for Samantha changed, but not in the way one would think it would. What Samantha thought might be a sexually transmitted disease… turned out to be a whole lot worse.

The storyline has a rather different take for a zombie film, which was very very cool. So, big props to Eric England for writing and directing a flick that from start to finish had my attention.

The cast does a pretty good job but you’re gonna find some bad acting here and there. Not enough to lessen the film by any means.

This film relies on the skill of the special effects to tell the story, and they did a hell of a job. Another one of the things I liked about this film is that it’s shot on simple sets (home, car etc) giving more focus on the scene not the surroundings.

One of the down sides to the film was it’s length, seventy eight minutes just wasn’t enough. Especially at the end where a few more minutes would have been cool for closure, instead of the abrupt here’s-your-end-and-credits .

Summary : This could easily be one of those films that doesn't make it on the radar of "cool titles", but it's worth checking out.

It's rated NR (not rated) but has language and gore.
