Movie Review: The Last Stand

How many times have you finally gotten settled in and relaxed, when all the sudden you’re running like crazy and making decisions on the go? In January 2013, that’s exactly how Ray’s day went.

Directing this 107 minute action/crime/thriller is Jee-Woon.

Bring the action in this thrill/kill ride is: Arnold Schwarzenegger as Ray Owens, Forest Whitaker as Agent John Bannister, Luis Guzman as Mike Figuerola, Jamie Alexander as Sarah Torrance, Rodrigo Santoro as Frank Martinez, Johnny Knoxville as Lewis Dinkum, Genesis Rodriguez as Agent Ellen Richards, Peter Stormare as Burrell and Eduaro Noriega as Gabriel Cortez.

Ray spent enough years in big city law enforcement. Now, all he wants is to be a sheriff in a small quiet town.
Unfortunately, a escaped prisoner named Eduaro is about to stir up a lot of noise. With the FBI on his tail, Eduaro uses Ray’s town of Summerton as a spot to cross the boarder back to Mexico. After trouble comes to his town, Ray will need every hand that’ll help if he wants to keep the law.

Body builder, actor, governor and now back to acting! With the action genre being what he knows, and what we know him best for. This was the perfect spring board to use for the dive back in. The story was average, with an “I’ve had pain in life… oh look a reason to shoot guns” is the depth we’re talking about here. Yet, it did keep my attention with the fight scenes, shootouts, and quick one liners. Definitely good to see Arnie wasn’t lying when he said he’d be back, cause he was terminating like the old pro I remember.

It’s rated R for violence and language.

3 stars for a man that’s still got some ass kicking left in him.
