Movie Review: Epic

After being shrunk down to the size where a field mouse is now dangerous,

how do you stand against evil when you feel so small? In May 2013, we watched a girl do just that and the tale was epic.

Directing this 102 minute animation/adventure/family/fantasy is Chris Wedge.
Some of the talented voice work belongs to: Jason Sudeikis as Bomba, Amanda Seyfried as Mary Katherine, Beyonce as Queen Tara, Colin Farrell as Ronin, Josh Hutcherson as Nod, Chris O’Dowd as Grub, Aziz Ansari as Mub, Steven Tyler as Nim Galuu and Christoph Walt as Mandrake.
M.K. enters a world she never knew existed, right in the middle of a fight between the good Leafmen and the evil Boggan. It’s time for queen Tara to pick a successor, but the evil Mandrake has other ideas for the

new queen. So, it’s up to M.K., Nod and the rest of her new friends to not only make it through this journey but make sure Mandrake doesn’t get his villainous hands on the new queen.

Epic.. Yeah, so the title, a little misleading. I think it would have been better titled “Ok” or “Fine”. Epic? I felt lied to after it was over. The story is nothing grand, and it’s another movie crammed with big names to draw a crowd. Visually it was very cool, still not epic. I’ve seen better flicks that fell closer to “epic” (yeah the title bugs me). But, if you need a movie for you and the kids, this one is ok. Kids will enjoy it, adults can like it and it’s worth it overall.
It’s rated PG for rude language and violence.
For something so epic, I’ll give it 3 stars.
