It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (1966)

Directing this 25 minute animation/short/comedy/family is Bill Melendez with Bob Bachman as the animator.

Lending their voices to the characters is: Peter Robbins as Charlie Brown, Christopher Shea as Linus Van Pelt, Sally Dryer as Lucy Van Pelt, Kathy Steinberg as Sally Brown,Lisa DeFaria as Patti, Bill Melendez as Snoopy, Glenn Mendelson as Schroeder/Shermy and Ann Altieri as Frieda/Violet.

Violet is throwing a Halloween party and the whole peanuts gang is invited, even Charlie Brown. After some trick-or-treating, everyone’s off to have some fun at the party, everyone except Linus. The legend of the Great Pumpkin is all Linus has on his mind, so off to the pumpkin patch he will be. Since Linus believes the Great Pumpkin will rise up into the air and deliver presents to all the kids in the world, this has made him the laughing stock of the group. Even though everyone’s making fun of him, Linus knows it’s going to happen so he’s going to wait all night to see the Great Pumpkin. Sally, is the only one with a problem with tonight’s plans. She really want’s to go to her first Halloween party, but her lovely Linus will be all alone. Should Sally go and have fun at the party, or be by Linus’s side while he waits?


This is a great Halloween classic and twenty five minutes just isn’t long enough, but it’s a holiday must see! We’re talking about classic animation, great kid friendly story and something that’s filled with imagination.
